Today we’re excited to bring a new innovation to HeraldScotland; the Twitterendum monitors real-time public sentiment towards the Scottish independence referendum by looking for keywords within public tweets.
The tool also shows changes in opinion over time – visitors can click back through history and see the twitter opinion for any day, along with the HeraldScotland stories that might have helped influence that opinion.
The live widget is available at bit.ly/twitterendum
The Twitterendum tool was built by Equator, with my team providing extra news data feeds to supplement the core yes/no sentiment tracking.
The tool has only been live for a couple of hours, but it’s already picking up a lot of traction with hundreds of twitter votes and thousands of views.
